The 4Tracks4Kids Charity Walk is an annual event held in Melbourne and Sydney.
4tracks4kids is dedicated to helping sick children and their families by raising funds for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network.
The funds raised go to developing medicines and cures for childrens diseases, training medical personal and purchasing important medical equipment.
This year the Fillies Form crew made the arduous trek along side TV personalities Richard Callander, Duncan McCrae, Daniel Geale, Jason Richardson and a host of other dedicated walkers.
Richard Callander and his team made an early start from Warwick Farm before meeting a group of 200 walkers at Rosehill Racecourse. From Rosehill the large contingent motored on to Canterbury Racecourse before refuelling on coca cola, chocolate bars and anti-inflammatories.
The 15km shuffle to Royal Randwick seemed to be never ending and at one stage Fillies Form was destined for the emergency van. But never one to be defeated, and inspired by the challenges of the brave little kids we were supporting, Fillies Form found their 2nd wind. A highlight was walking down the Randwick straight to the cheers of the supporting crowd.
After the presentation of the $300,000 cheque to Dr Michael Brydon, we set off for the final leg.
This would be the most rewarding leg of the walk and culminated in brave little Erin leaving her wheel chair and walking the final 20 metres of the journey through a guard of honour.
Weary legs finally found there resting place at Inglis’ where staff provided a well deserved BBQ and refreshments.
The 4Tracks4Kids walk was a proud and memorable day for Fillies Form and we will definitely be taking part in 2014. Be sure to join us next year and help make a difference.
