In 2015 The Championships will feature the final of the inaugural Country Championship Series and Provincial Championship Series. Created to support and promote NSW racing in the country and provincial areas, both race series will commence in early March.
This exciting development will ensure that horses from across all of the NSW racing industry are part of the grand final fever of The Championships.
The Country Championship Series will be contested by eligible horses that must be under the care of a country trainer, and each qualifying race will be worth $100,000 in prizemoney with the final offering total prizemoney of $300,000. The winner and second place horse in each of the regional heats will qualify from their region for the 14-horse field in The Country Championship Final at Royal Randwick on Saturday 4 April.
The Provincial Championship Series will be contested by horses exclusively trained in each provincial area. Each of the five race clubs will conduct a qualifying race worth $100,000 in prizemoney. The Provincial Championships Final on Saturday 11 April at Royal Randwick, with $300,000 prizemoney on offer, will be contested by the first, second and third place horses from each of the five qualifying series.
