As one of the premier Country Cups in Victoria, the $150,000 Darley Seymour Cup attracts many of the states leading trainers and jockeys and you may just get to see a new champion in the making.

First run in 1882 for a purse of 25 sovereigns the Listed Seymour Cup is run over the mile and many of the winners have gone on to bigger things. The George Hanlon trained Arwon (1978) won the Seymour Cup before winning the Melbourne Cup weeks later. Other quality gallopers to win the race include Grand Scale and Zaparri.

In 2012 the Mick Price trained Callanish took his unbeaten record to eight wins from eight starts with a gutsy victory from the outside barrier.

So make sure you head out to the Seymour track and experience a day of quality racing, free entertainment and live music. There will be activities for the kids and great prizes to be won in the Fashions on the Field.
