Allez Eagle – 3yo Gelding : 3 Starts, 2 Wins, 1 Unplaced
Breeding : Guillotine – Alleyrun ( Volksraad )
Trainer : Tony Pike
This talented son of Guillotine was already on the Prospect List after 2 brilliant trials before his 1st start which he won well. However, so taken was I with his win 1st up at Te Rapa 3/5 it had to be noted. Jumping from an outside gate he was restrained to midfield travelling strongly to the corner off a solid speed, he went to the 350 under a hold, then when let down, showed the turn of foot of a very good horse. He had to knuckle down at the 150 but put the race away going strongly through the line. With his turn of foot and under the care of Tony Pike, this classy 3yo is a Group winner in the making.
Irish Moon – 4yo Gelding : 3 Starts, 1 Win, 2 Placing’s
Breeding : O’Reilly – Moonstrummer ( Stravinsky )
Trainer : Ken & Bev Kelso
This was a cracking run put in by Irish Moon at Te Teko 3/5. 1st up since December 2013 he was really made to work to cross the field and never let up the speed. Showed a nice turn of foot at the top of the straight to put 3 on his opposition only to be run down by other Prospect List horse Allez Eagle. Considering this was the fastest time of the 4 1200m races on the day and Irish Moon did nearly all the work in the race, I have to put him down on the List. I can only imagine this horse has plenty of improvement left and with his ability, racing pattern, and being a lightly raced son of O’Reilly you would have to think he will come away with a good race at some point in the near future.
