Fillies Stable – Long John

Melbourne RacingLONG JOHN

Sire: Street Cry

Dam: Hosiery

Age/Colour/Sex: 3yr old Bay Gelding

DOB: 15/10/2010

Trainer: Peter Snowden

The Fillies Form sound catchers were instantly drawn to the name Long John and once we read his form he soon found his place in the Fillies Form Stable.

In his juvenile season Long John proved to be an above average 2 year old winning his first three starts in convincing fashion.

With his regular hoop Steve Arnold back on board for the Spring, Long John commenced his campaign running in the Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m) at Mooney Valley.

Despite drawing the outside gate, Long John came from last in the running to unleash a powerful dash for home, finishing a respectable 3rd to NZ rising star, Cauthen.

Long John followed up with a handsome win in the Listed Henry Bucks Best Dressed Stakes (1400 metres) before driving home late from a wide draw to finish third  in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude.

Long John now finds himself the firm favourite for the $1 million Group 1 Caulfield Guineas.

In the last 30 years the inside gate has been the most successful barrier in the race so we at Fillies Form are sticking solid with the Long John.
